Thandel, Naga Chaitanya's latest film, has made a sensational start at the box office. Within just three days of its release, the romantic drama is nearing the ₹50 crore mark, making it the highest-grossing Naga Chaitanya film to date.
Produced by Allu Aravind, the film has faced multiple challenges, including piracy issues and online trolling. At a press interaction for Thandel, Allu Aravind remarked Game Changer, stating that Dil Raju experienced both a major success with Sankranthiki Vasthunam and a setback with Game Changer within the same week. This comment did not sit well with mega fans, who began trolling him on social media.

Tensions between the Mega family and the Allu camp have been apparent for some time, and the divide became more evident after Allu Arjun’s recent legal troubles. Considering the backlash, Allu Aravind publicly apologized today, stating, “Fans trolled me, thinking that I spoke ill of Ram Charan. I apologize for my unintentional words.”
Apart from the controversy, Thandel faced another major setback when its HD print was leaked online on the first day of release and was even played on a government bus in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing this issue, Allu Aravind warned of strict legal action, saying, “We have spent crores on this film, and piracy is unacceptable. Those responsible will face serious repercussions.”
Interestingly, the controversy surrounding Thandel has only increased its hype, boosting ticket sales. The film’s Monday occupancy remained solid, and trade analysts expect steady box office numbers in the coming days. Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi, who plays the female lead, has been noticeably absent from post-release promotions, while Naga Chaitanya continues to tour theaters in Andhra Pradesh.
Despite the mixed attention, Thandel remains a trending topic. It will be interesting to see how much it collects by the end of its theatrical run. Netflix has bagged the digital rights to the film for a massive price. Watch this space for more updates.
