The latest teaser from Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Alone promises an intriguing mystery thriller that has its protagonist chasing after the source and secrets of a voice he hears during his time of isolation in an apartment soon after the pandemic lockdown is declared.

The 30-second teaser video started with Mohanlal’s character Kalidasan explaining the Butterfly effect of how the flapping of wings of a butterfly in Coimbatore can result in a typhoon in the United States, while the visuals showed the character getting drunk and losing his mind in isolation inside an apartment. The character finally decides to track down the source and “secrets” of a voice that has been apparently haunting him.

Alone is a single-actor movie, with just Mohanlal on screen. The film, which is helmed by veteran director Shaji Kailas, will also feature voices of superstars such as Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier along with Siddique and Mallika Sukumaran. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Mohanlal said that he was intrigued by the premise of the story and way it has been told, and that was the chief reason that the producers took up the risk of funding the movie despite it being an experimental venture.

The film’s composers 4 Musics had said in a recent interview with us that Mohanlal’s character in the film goes through an array of emotions in every scene, making it a challenging movie to work on. Alone, which is scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman, marks Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas’ first collaboration in over 13 years.

The movie had wrapped up its shoot in 2021, during the pandemic lockdown. It was initially set for an OTT release but the producers decided to give the film a short theatrical run before it began available for streaming, just like Vysakh’s Monster last year. Alone is set to hit theatres on January 26 along with Vineeth Sreenivasan and Biju Menon’s Thankam.
