Mandakini, starring Althaf Salim and Anarkali Marikar, will be released in theatres on May 24, alongside other eagerly awaited Malayalam films. This comedy family drama is directed and written by Vinod Leela. The movie will be screened in theatres alongside Asif Ali-Biju Menon's cop drama Thalavan and Mammootty's Turbo.
Sanju Unnithan has bankrolled Mandakini under the Spire Productions banner. The supporting cast of the movie includes Jeo Baby, Pratish Jacob, Ambili Sunil, Babita Basheer, Guinness Vinod, Ganapathi, Jafar Idukki, Sarita Kuku, Vineet Thattil, Aswathy Srikanth, Kutty Akhil, Akhila Nath, and Ajim Shah.
The trailer and posters of Mandakini hinted at a comedy entertainer that featured the lead actors as a married couple. The two-minute-and-17-second video, which was released last month, gave a glimpse into the hilarious plot, beginning with the wedding night of Aromal (played by Althaf) and Ambili (played by Anarkali).
Ambili's questioning of her husband's previous relationships establishes the tone for a humorous story. Aromal, a shy young man, appears to be misled by several of his relatives on his wedding night and shows interest in learning about Ambili's previous relationships. During the wedding, a few women can be seen speculating about how Aromal managed to woo "such a good-looking girl". In the trailer, which primarily depicts the chaotic events on the night of the wedding, Priya Prakash Varrier also makes a brief appearance as a lover of Aromal.
Filming for Althaf's next directorial, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles, is about to begin soon. The movie will be released on Onam this year. Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela, starring Nivin Pauly, marked his directorial debut.
Anarkali Marikar’s Gaganachari will be released in theatres in June. Gokul Suresh, Aju Varghese, and Ganesh Kumar are also starring in this dystopian science-fiction movie. Arun Chandu, who had previously helmed Saajan Bakery and Sayanna Varthakal, is the director of Gaganachari.
