Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira’s Althaf Salim to join hands with Naslen after Fahadh Faasil-starrer, reveals genre

Althaf Salim is currently busy with his second directorial venture, titled Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, which stars Fahadh Faasil in the lead. The upcoming Malayalam film is set for an Onam release. However, Althaf Salim is already planning his next directorial with Premalu star Naslen in the lead. Here’s what he has said about the proposed project.

Althaf Salim on film with Naslen

Filmmaker Althaf Salim, who is also a noted comedian, returns to the director’s chair with Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira. In a recent interview with Baiju N Nair, Althaf spoke about making a film with Naslen next.

"I plan to do a film with Naslen next. If everything falls in place, it will happen. The film will be in the genre of crime comedy, murder mystery,” said Althaf Salim, whose debut directorial was Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela, starring Nivin Pauly.

Odum Kuthira Chadum eyes Onam release

Recently, Odum Kuthira Chadum’s lead star Fahadh Faasil confirmed that the makers were planning to release the film during Onam 2025. While urging everyone to see the film in theatres, Fahadh said, “If you like it, tell your friends. If you didn’t like it, tell me.”

Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the female lead, marking her first onscreen collaboration with Fahadh. Althaf, who has featured in movies such as Nunakkuzhi and Vishesham, has also penned the script for the upcoming Malayalam film. Notably, Althaf had featured alongside Fahadh Faasil in Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum. Fahadh Faasil’s last Malayalam film release was Bougainvillea, alongside Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi. He starred in Aaavesham, a performance that won much fan adoration.

Naslen’s films

On the other hand, Naslen was last seen in Alappuzha Gymkhana, which released in theatres on Apr 10, 2025. The film is expected to make its OTT release in June 2025, though no official announcement has been made so far. He is set to feature in Thudarum director Tharun Moorthy’s next film, Torpedo, which will also star Fahadh Faasil.
