Sir Peter Levin Shaffer's 1979 play, Amadeus, is turned into a TV show version with the same name, forty years after its first movie adaptation in 1984 that own eight Oscars at the 57th Academy Awards. Amadeus is brought to you by Sky Studios and will start airing on Sky TV channel this December. The story is about a 25-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart arriving in Vienna in 1781, leaving behind his childhood memories and embrace his new life as a composer, while dealing with personal demons.
The British five-part series will be released on JioHotstar (accessible via OTTplay Premium) on December 22, after its premiere on Sky Atlantic on December 21, 2025.

The British series focuses on the intense jealousy and rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri in the 18th-century Vienna. The story begins with a young Amadeus arriving in Vienna with his craving of doing something creative in life after his father's death. Unemployed and without management, he finds an ally in a young female singer Constanze Weber, who later becomes his wife. Constanze's connections in the music industry help Amadeus make his own name in the Italian opera powerhouse.
Amadeus achieves success in impressing composer Antonio Salieri, who is quite popular in the industry. However, a professional rivalry quickly escalates when Salieri vows to bring Amadeus down. The series follows Amadeus Mozart's meteoric rise and subsequent downfall amidst personal demons and skepticism from the aristocracy, while Salieri's envy turns vengeful as he uses any means necessary to thwart his rival and protect his own legacy.
