Actress Amala Paul’s comeback Malayalam film The Teacher, which hit theatres only earlier this month, is already set for its OTT release. The movie, which is helmed by Athiran filmmaker Vivek, is a revenge thriller that has the actress playing its protagonist.
The movie released in theatres on December 2. We had already informed that Netflix had grabbed the OTT rights for the film, much before its theatrical release and this could also be the reason that the movie is set to drop on the streaming platform within three weeks of its release.
The Teacher revolves around a physical education teacher who wakes up one day, feeling that something wrong had happened the previous night. She though has nothing to confirm this till a shocking incident shakes her to the core. How she sets about to reclaim her life without divulging anything to her oblivious husband forms the plot of this thriller, which also has Hakkim Shah, Chemban Vinod Jose and Manju Pillai as part of the cast.
The movie is scripted by Take Off writer PV Shajikumar along with Vivek, who is also next set to work with Mohanlal in a ‘mass’ action-thriller. The Teacher was extensively shot in Kollam and wrapped up its shoot earlier this year. It’s set to drop on the streaming platform on December 23.
Incidentally, another movie, which was also shot in Kollam, will drop on Disney+ Hotstar this week. Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran’s Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, which is helmed by Antakshari and Mudhugauv filmmaker Vipin Das, is set to begin streaming after almost two months of its theatrical release on the OTT platform from December 22.
Meanwhile, Amala Paul’s next Malayalam release – Christopher – has Mammootty as the protagonist. The movie, which is set to hit theatres in January 2023, is directed by B Unnikrishnan and also has Aishwarya Lekshmi and Vinay Rai in pivotal roles.
