Amala Paul’s comeback Malayalam movie, The Teacher, promises to be a riveting thriller. The film’s first look poster was unveiled on social media by Mohanlal on Teacher’s Day and hinted at a movie that shows that two sides of its protagonist.

Amala also took to her social media page to reveal the poster of the film, which is directed by Vivek, who had previously helmed Fahadh Faasil and Sai Pallavi-starrer Athiran. The upcoming movie is also written by Vivek and has Chemban Vinod Jose and Hakkim Shajahan as part of the cast.

In an earlier interview with us, Vivek said that Amala plays a teacher based in Kollam in the new-age thriller, which is co-scripted by Take Off writer PV Shajikumar. “It’s not a role that she has played before,” said the filmmaker, adding that the movie has a rooted-to-reality theme that showcases the lives of common people from Munroe Islands to the hills of Thenmala.

The film had completed its shoot earlier this year in Kollam and surrounding areas. Anumol, Prashanth Murali, Nandu and Maala Parvathi are also part of the film, which will also have two surprise cameo.

Amala, meanwhile, was most recently seen playing a forensic surgeon in Cadaver, which is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The actress, who is also part of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham, will also be seen in Mammootty’s big-budget crime thriller Christopher that also has Sneha and Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female leads. The movie is currently being shot in Ernakulam and Amala is set to join the team in its next schedule after Onam.

Meanwhile, Vivek is next to direct Mohanlal in an upcoming movie that will be produced by Shibu Baby John. The movie is expected to go on floors after the superstar wraps up his portions for Jeethu Joseph’s action-thriller Ram, which also has Indrajith Sukumaran, Trisha Krishnan and Adil Hussain as part of the cast.
