Amar Akbar Anthony, the 2015-released film which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Jayasurya in the lead roles, has been making headlines lately due to a major revelation on its casting. In a recent interview, Asif Ali revealed that he was originally offered one of the lead roles in the film. But the actor was later replaced, after the team felt Prithviraj has a better camaraderie with his Classmates co-stars Jayasurya and Indrajith, who is also his elder brother.
However, later it was rumoured that it was Prithviraj Sukumaran who asked director Nadhirshah to replace Asif Ali in the film. The netizens have been trolling the actor-director for the same and speculated that he is not on good terms with the Thalavan actor. However, Asif Ali put an end to the rumours in a recent interview with a leading Malayalam media.
In a recent interview, Asif Ali rubbished the rumours about his rift with Prithviraj Sukumaran and confirmed that they are on good terms. The popular actor expressed his disappointment over the rumours about his exit from Amar Akbar Anthony and stated that the L2 Empuraan director is not the reason for the same. According to Asif Ali, he was originally offered one of the three lead roles in Amar Akbar Anthony. However, after Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jayasurya came on board, the makers felt that Asif might not be able to do justice to the part, as he is younger than his co-stars. Director Nadhirshah and his team wanted actors from the same age group, to make the characters more relatable and believable. They also felt that it was a great idea to bring back the ‘Classmates’ trio – Prithviraj, Indrajith, and Jayasurya – as they share a great onscreen chemistry. Asif Ali, however, made a cameo appearance in the film as the trio’s friend, Faizal.
