Stree 3 is one of the most-awaited films after the blockbuster success of the first two instalments. Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana starrer will be released in 2027, and it is already confirmed by Maddock Films. In a new interview, director Amar Kaushik reflected on his life after Stree 2's unanimous success, how he felt he made the film under a lot of pressure, and also mentioned that he will avoid people's expectations pressure before making the horror comedy, Stree 3.
Amar Kaushik on people's expectations regarding Stree 3
In an interview with Komal Nahta, Amar Kaushik was asked about the trajectory of his life after Stree 2. The filmmaker revealed that nothing has changed much, but added that he will avoid people's expectations pressure before making Stree 3.
Amar admitted that Stree 2 was made under a lot of pressure. "It was preponed a lot, and many things happened — so now I’m going to take it easy for 3–4 months. Secondly, people’s expectations have increased a lot, asking when the next one will be made, so I’m trying to avoid that and not take that pressure upon myself. Other than that, nothing else has changed."
Amar Kaushik on making Stree 2 under a lot of pressure
Addressing the people's expectations, the filmmaker shared that Stree 2 was made under a lot of pressure. Citing reasons, Amar said that firstly, because it was a sequel and sequels always get criticised. He along with writer Niren Bhatt were prepared to get bashed and worked on reducing the criticism as much as possible.
"When it came to VFX, you don’t have to do it yourself — just give instructions and get the work done — so it’s hard to understand the time frame. When we realised there was still a lot of work left and very little time, we lost sleep for the last 2–3 months," he shared.
About Stree 3
Maddock Films revealed that Stree 3 will hit theaters on August 13, 2027. Akshay Kumar might return to the third instalment but official news is yet to come. Meanwhile, the OG cast is expected to include Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, with Akshay Kumar potentially returning as a villain.
