Diljit Dosanjh is gearing up for the release of his movie, Amar Singh Chamkila. The actor plays the titular role in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's movie. Before the film's release on Netflix, Diljit mentioned in an interview that he never imagined doing a film with the director. On The Ranveer Show, Diljit stated that Imtiaz Ali signing him for a movie isn't important. He believes there are a lot of others that the director could get on board. However, Dosanjh thinks this collaboration happened because of Chamkila (the late legendary Punjabi singer).

Speaking with Ranveer Allahbadia, Diljit Dosanjh mentioned he doesn't think he is that a great musician, but ends up getting good opportunities. He added that he hasn't learnt acting from anywhere, yet he is working with a renowned filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. Diljit never imagined he would do a film with the director.
"Maybe it happened because of Chamkila. He gave me that chance. Imtiaz Ali signing Diljit Dosanjh isn't necessary. There are so many others whom he can hire," he said. Diljit further recalled being the first Indian to perform at Coachella. As a singer, Dosanjh felt he wasn't a 'deserving' candidate.
"I feel so. It was God's will. I knew it (Coachella) was big and for the first time, someone from India was going to perform there. It was a huge deal," added Diljit.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Diljit Dosanjh was recently seen in Rajesh Krishnan's Crew. The actor shared screen space with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon and Tabu in the film. Diljit delivered a good performance even in a cameo appearance. The movie has done well at the box office.
