The release of director Santosh Sivan’s film Jack & Jill has been long delayed due to the pandemic. The movie was initially looking at an April 2020 release, which got pushed to this year and now it seems that the film will hit theatres only after the release of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham.
Talking about the status of the movie, Santosh told OTTplay, “We are looking for a theatrical release. The digital rights of the movie are already sold to Amazon Prime Video. Right now, we aren’t considering a direct OTT release because there wouldn't be too much of a difference in the money offered unless it’s got a big star attached. Producer Antony Perumbavoor will be releasing the film and right now the plan is for a theatrical release after Marakkar.”
Jack & Jill has Manju Warrier, Soubin Shahir, Kalidas Jayaram and Shaylee Krishen as part of the cast. It also has elements of sci-fi. Manju’s character is experimented upon in this multi-genre film that also has the actress rendering a song.
The movie also has a Tamil version titled Centimetre, which has Yogi Babu playing Soubin’s character. The Tamil movie also has a few other changes, informs Santosh.
The director-cinematographer, who is currently busy with Mohanlal’s Barroz, will next helm an anthology for Netflix based on the short stories of MT Vasudevan Nair. The anthology has eight segments directed by eight filmmakers and actor Siddique will star in Santosh’s episode.
