The trailer of Tamil web series Suzhal: The Vortex, which is dropping on Amazon Prime Video on June 17, was released recently by the makers. The intriguing trailer, which provided a sneak peek into its story, has now garnered a massive 50M views in a span of just two days.

Bramma and Anucharan M have directed the project which has been written and created by popular filmmaker duo Pushkar and Gayatri. Aishwarya Rajesh, Parthiban, Kathir and Sriya Reddy play lead characters in the series which has a story spanning three decades. Suzhal will be released in more than 30 Indian and foreign languages, a one-of-its-kind feat for a Tamil project.

Pushkar and Gayatri had taken to social media the other day to share their excitement when the trailer was released. They said that a year was spent on writing for the series, while they took a couple of years to shoot the project.

The eight-episode series revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a girl from a small town. Despite cops putting their best foot forward, they hit a roadblock. How the case is connected with a three-decade old incident forms the rest of the story.

Billed as a whodunit thriller, Suzhal marks the digital debut of veteran actor-filmmaker Parthiban, while Aishwarya has already had a few OTT releases in the last two years. The series was announced by Amazon Prime around two months ago and had unveiled its first look poster.

Pushkar-Gayatri's inclusion in the project is one of the reasons why the series is riding on high expectations. The power-packed cast, which have come up with stellar performances in their respective careers, is another highlight of Suzhal, which is the first Tamil series to be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
