American Born Chinese: Oscar winners and Everything Everywhere All At Once stars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan reunite in the Disney+ series

In the first trailer for the Disney+ series American Born Chinese, which debuted on Sunday, the phrase "dark forces will be coming" is hinted at.

Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, along with nominee Stephanie Hsu, who were all part of Everything Everywhere All At Once, reunite in the first trailer for the original series. All through the video, there are hints of a new universe, like when Yeoh says that the fate of the planet is in balance as a doorway between heaven and earth opens.

The series American Born Chinese is based on Gene Luen Yang's graphic novel of the same name. It's about a young boy named Jin Wang (Ben Wang) who meets a new student on the first day of school and gets caught up in a fight between Chinese gods.

Before Sunday's 2023 Oscars, the teaser trailer was made available. Everything Everywhere All At Once had the most nominations, with 11, including a historic nomination for best actress for Yeoh and supporting actor nominations for Quan and Hsu. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Yeoh, Best Supporting Actor for Quan, Best Supporting Actress for Curtis, and Best Original Screenplay were among the seven honours the movie received.

Yeoh and Quan both won their first Oscars at the prestigious event, and their speeches were praised around the world.

The show also stars Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, Jimmy Liu, Sydney Taylor, and Daniel Wu. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, is in charge of directing and producing the show.

In October 2021, Disney+ ordered the action comedy for a straight-to-series release. With Charles Yu acting as the showrunner, Kelvin Yu and Charles Yu are adapting. Executive producing are Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan as well.

On May 24, 2023, American Born Chinese will make its debut on Disney+.
