Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan has revealed a major update about his upcoming movie, which has been tentatively titled SK21. While promoting the Telugu version of his latest movie Ayalaan in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Sivakarthikeyan also briefly talked about SK21.
When asked to provide an update about the project, Sivakarthikeyan revealed that the 80 percent of the production has been completed. He also added that the filmmakers are trying to finish the remaning shoot and the post-production soon to keep it ready for the release in summer 2024. He, however, didn't share the exact release date.
Recently, Netflix announced that it has bagged the streaming rights to SK 21.
According to the soruces, the movie is expected to showcase Sivakarthikeyan in an action-packed avatar, portraying an army officer.
Sivakarthikeyan's exciting line-up
In preparation for the role, Sivakarthikeyan is said to have underwent a significant physical transformation. SK 21 repotedly draws inspiration from the non-fiction book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories Of Modern Military Heroes, depicting real-life challenges faced by Indian soldiers, including the 2016 surgical strikes.
Directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films Internationals, SK 21 also features Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose, and Lallu in pivotal roles. Rumors suggest a key cameo by Kamal Haasan, awaiting official confirmation.
Soon after completing this film, Sivakarthikeyan will join the sets of director AR Murugadoss' next directoral outing . Temporarily titled SK23, this will be Sivakarthikeyan's maiden collaboration with Murugadoss. This project is also a strong sign of the growing influence of Sivakarthikeyan within the Tamil film industry.

In the meantime, Sivakarthikeyan is basking in the success of his recent movie Ayalaan. The movie was first conceived in 2016. However, the project was delayed for seven years owing to the budget constraints. Sivakarthikeyan revealed that he even gave up his salary to ensure the completion and the release of the movie.

The Tamil version was released during the Pongal festival and garnered favourable reviews. According to reports, the film has earned about Rs 75 crore from its worldwide ticket sales.
The Telugu version of Ayalaan was delayed as there were no theatres available in the Telugu states during the holiday season. The film is due in cinemas on January 26.
