Shah Rukh Khan's witty reflection on stardom

The viral clip is part of the AIB Podcast, where Shah Rukh Khan took part as a guest during the promotion of his 2017 movie Raees. At one point, he breaks into a hilarious monologue about the growing absurdity of his stardom. He revealed that gone are the days when he jumped out of bed to meet the day ahead with great confidence and enthusiasm. He suggested that now he wakes up feeling stressed and dreads his stature as the "King of Bollywood."

"Now, I wake up like this. What king? What Bollywood? And my hand goes automatically to my phone. And my prayers are happening inside. I do prayers in every language, to every God," he said, noting that his name gets linked to all controversies happening around the world, even though he has nothing to do with them.

What is the controversy about?

The latest controversy broke out when senior political leader Subramanian Swamy alleged that the Modi government leveraged Shah Rukh Khan's popularity in the Middle East country to free the Indian officials who were held on espionage charges.

The news spread like wildfire on the internet, forcing the superstar's office to issue a statement denying his involvement in the matter. “Regarding the reports concerning Shah Rukh Khan's purported role in the release of India's naval officers from Qatar, the office of Mr. Shah Rukh Khan says that any such assertions of his involvement are unfounded, emphasizing the execution of this successful resolution solely rests with the Indian government officials and unequivocally denies Mr. Khan's participation in this matter," said SRK's office.
