Adipurush, the multilingual extravaganza starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh, and Saif Ali Khan, released on June 16 but immediately sparked outrage for its dialogue, VFX, and the way Hindu gods were portrayed in the film. The Om Raut-directed film was compared by viewers and cinema lovers to Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, and now, the show is currently scheduled for another rerun.

Due to popular demand, Ramayan, which aired on television from 1987 to 1988, received its first official rerun on Doordarshan during the COVID-19 lockdown. The mythical show will now return to Shemaroo TV in the wake of the Adipurush saga. From July 3 through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., it will start airing. Arun Govil played Lord Ram and Deepika Chikhalia played Sita in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, which also starred Arvind Trivedi as Ravan and Dara Singh as Hanuman.

A few days ago, Prem Sagar, the son of Ramanand Sagar, reacted to Adipurush controversy by asking how co-author Manoj Muntashir "conceived such dialogues." He stated to the news source ANI, “Manoj Muntashir is well-informed about Hinduism. I don't understand how he even conceived such dialogues in the film. It might be a misjudgment that the younger generation would like it. But you can't do this with the audience. Don't say it is based on Valmiki Ramayan, give it any other name. Make it a fantasy film. But if you're making Ramayan then you cannot hurt the sentiments. People watch this with devotion.”

Meanwhile, Om Raut's Adipurush, which he both wrote and directed, is one of the most expensive Indian movie ever made. The film's production cost a whopping Rs 500 crore. In the movie, Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon all had leading roles. The supporting cast includes Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage and Vatsal Sheth.
