Amidst speculation of Munna Bhai 3 being scrapped, Sanjay Dutt demands Vidhu Vinod Chopra to continue with the franchise

There was a lot of talk about Munna Bhai 3 recently, especially after ‘Munna and Circuit’ Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi reunited for Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. While reports suggested that the film might be shelved, the lead actor Sanjay has now spoken about it again. He demanded an update on Munna Bhai 3 (in a fun way, of course). The actor was actually commenting on Munna Bhai franchise producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next film.

What did Sanjay Dutt say?

While sharing the teaser of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next film 12th Fail on his Twitter page, Sanjay Dutt praised the Vikrant Massey-led film. He hoped that the movie turns out to be a winner. The actor, however, ended his tweet saying that he’s now waiting for Munna Bhai. Sanjay shared a laughing emoji with it.

About Munna Bhai 3

During Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra had promised the third installment, Munna Bhai Chale America aka Munna Bhai 3. However, the work on that film never began. Rajkumar got busy with Ranbir Kapoor-led Sanju, which was a biopic on Sanjay Dutt. He then started working on Dunki with Shah Rukh Khan. Many speculate that Munna Bhai 3 script has been reworked to turn it into Dunki. The speculations came as the SRK starrer is also based in the US (travelling from India to US via the donkey system). Recent reports further suggested that Munna Bhai franchise might never happen owing to some differences . However, with Sanjay Dutt’s recent tweet, all hopes aren’t lost.

What the first two parts of Munna Bhai were about?

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S was about a goon Munna trying to become a doctor by pursuing MBBS. The film featured Arshad Warsi as his best friend and literal partner-in-crime, Circuit. It also starred Boman Irani in the role of lead doctor, Dr. Asthana, who had to approve Munna’s doctor licence. The movie featured real-life father-son Sunil and Sanjay Dutt as father and son on-screen.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai brought in the additional element of Mahatma Gandhi. This time, Bapu became Munna’s best friend as he climbed on the rollercoaster called life. Vidya Balan was seen as his love interest in the movie.
