Amigos OTT release date: When and where to watch Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Ashika Ranganath’s film online

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, actor and producer, opted for Amigos, yet another experimental film after scoring the biggest hit of his career with the fantasy drama Bimbisara. Written and directed by a debutant Rajendra Reddy, the action thriller marked Kannada actress Ashika Ranganath’s debut in Telugu cinema. Produced by Y Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni under Mythri Movie Makers, the film hit theatres on February 10.

For the first-ever-time, Kalyan Ram chose to do a triple role in his career for a story revolving around three doppelgängers Siddharth, Manjunath and Michael. Among them, Michael is also the antagonist of the film. The makers chose to remix the popular Balakrishna track Enno Ratrulostayi for the film, a track rendered by SPB Charan and Sameera Bharadwaj. Ghibran had scored the music for the film that was significantly driven by its background score.

Despite releasing amidst high expectations, Amigos didn’t perform as per expectations at the box office. While critics hailed the filmmaker’s premise, they opined that the treatment was found wanting. Brahmaji and Saptagiri played other crucial roles in the film. RRR star Jr NTR, Kalyan Ram’s brother, even attended the film’s pre-release event. The film’s distribution rights were sold at fancy rates though it found the going tough post the initial weekend and the weekdays.

The story takes off when Siddharth (Kalyan Ram) is in pursuit of his doppelgänger and finds out that there are two people, Michael and Manjunath who look like him. He meets them in Goa and has a good time, though Siddharth and Manju receive the shock of their lives when Michael, a drug lord, cheats them and they land in a mess. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel for Siddharth and Manju?

With cinematography by Soundar Rajan S, the film is edited by Tammiraju. Avinash Kolla is the production designer. Netflix has bagged its post-theatrical streaming rights and is expected to premiere the film in the first half of March.
