The trailer for Abhishek’s Bachchan’s social comedy Dasvi debuted yesterday and father Amitabh Bachchan was all praises for his son. Big B took to social media and lauded Abhishek for taking up the role, and mentioned that he’s eager to watch the film.

Amitabh reposted the trailer on Instagram and wrote, “The Pride of a Father .. in film after film he surprises all with the incredible portrayal of totally different characters .. its PHENOMENAL to be able to do that so successfully !!! (sic)."

The actor, who also regularly writes a blog, elaborated his thoughts on the trailer in a post as well.

“The greatest joy for a Father is to witness the achievements of his children .. to savour the glory they bring to his name .. to be in the recognition as the Father of Abhishek, rather the other way round .. and Abhishek sums it up for me (sic)," Amitabh wrote.

He added that he believed Abhishek is his successor: “…his continued efforts, at attempting different and dare I say difficult roles, to portray, are not just a challenge, but a mirror shown to the world of cinema, on his ability as an actor and for them to assuage his credibility and tenacity! (sic)."

In Dasvi, Abhishek plays Gangaram Chaudhary, a politician who aims to earn a high school diploma while serving time in prison for his involvement in a teacher recruitment scam.

The film comes from the Maddock Films, who have previously released social comedies like Angrezi Medium and Hindi Medium. It is directed by newcomer Tushar Jalota and also stars Yami Gautam, Nimrat Kaur, Manu Rishi Chadha, Arun Kushwaha, Shivankit Singh Parihar, and Sumit Shekhar Rai.

Dasvi releases on April 7 on Netflix and Jio Cinema.
