Malayalam actor Mukesh recently hit out against “inexperienced” and “non-senior” online movie reviewers for criticizing films through random comments that belie their “lack of know-how” of how films are made.

Talking at an event in Dubai, the actor blasted a YouTube reviewer for the review of his latest movie Oh My Darling, which was panned by critics and audiences alike. The actor said that online reviewers are trying to destroy the film industry that “provides livelihood for a lot of people”.

The actor said that he has the experience to point out if something is wrong in a movie, but when “children mock everyone these days”. “We should be dubious when they mock the acting, screenplay and all other aspects. It just means that they haven’t got something,” he said, as per an article on Reporter Channel.

Mukesh, however, went on to add that he would approve of the comments if the reviewers pointed out what was good about the movie too. “But now, they don’t pinpoint anything and just say that this person should never make a movie again,” the actor added. “It’s a huge blessing that Sholay escaped such scathing remarks. If these people were there, they would have asked, ‘What were those expressions on Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s faces?’ They were lucky they got away.”

Oh My Darling, which was helmed by debutant Alfred D Samuel, revolved around two youngsters – essayed by Anikha Surendran and Melvin G Babu – who has to deal with unintended pregnancy. Mukesh played the character of Anikha’s father in the film, which released in theatres last week.

Meanwhile, Mukesh is also gearing up for the release of his movie Philip’s, which will have him in the titular role. The movie is directed by Helen’s co-writer Alfred Kurian Joseph and also stars Nobel Babu Thomas in the lead. The film is a light-hearted entertainer, which is based on a true incident.
