Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s latest, a Hindi film adaptation of the popular Archies comics, was announced way back in November last year. Co-produced by Zoya, Reema Kagti, and Sharad Devarajan under the banners Tiger Baby and Graphic India, the film, called The Archies, will be the launchpad for star kids Agastya Nanda (Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson), Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter) and Kushi Kapoor (Boney Kapoor’s daughter).
Yesterday, Zoya officially announced the start of filming with a social media post, to which Amitabh Bachchan reacted, tweeting, "Agastya... a new chapter in your life begins, and no one can be happier than us all... my blessings, my love, and my best wishes for the future... do well... And don't forget to keep the flag flying." The tweet was, however, removed a few hours later.
Archie Andrews and his group of friends, which includes Veronica, Betty, Jughead, and Reggie, have been immortalized in a number of cinematic and animation adaptations. Archie Andrews did appear in Pep Comics and quickly rose to prominence as a stand-alone figure in popular culture.
Agastya, the son of business tycoon Nikhil Nanda and writer Shweta Bachchan Nanda, will play Archie in the film
