Anamadheya Ashok Kumar, directed by Sagar Kumar, has actor Kishore as one of the leads. A crime thriller, which focuses largely on the conversations between a cop and a journalist, following the murder of a high-profile personality, is at the crux of the tale. Kishore is joined by Harshil Koushik in this conversation. The film is set for release in theatres on February 7, ahead of which, the team revealed a trailer that sheds a little more light on the subject of the film.
The film, according to Sagar, explores the ideologies and political stands that these two characters take in a certain situation. As for the title, in Indian legalese, Ashok Kumar is the equivalent of a John Doe, wherein any unknown or anonymous person goes by that name. Speaking during the trailer launch, Kishore, who plays the journalist in the tale, was full of praise for the passion and dedication of the team, in making a film like Anamadheya Ashok Kumar, despite the uncertainties of the trade.
He also spoke at length about the importance of cinema in being a document about society, our culture, etc., for future generations. More importantly, Kishore reckons that cinema is one of the last-standing mediums available to people to voice their concerns and raise questions about issues plaguing them to the powers that be. “Cinema is the people’s medium. It’s a visual representation of the problems faced by people and is a means to get society to take note and question figures of authority,” he says.
It is, therefore, imperative that attempts like Anamadheya Ashok Kumar are given widespread reach to ensure the people’s voice continues to be heard, says Kishore. As for the film, the actor adds that the story revolves around the investigation into a murder and the police officer’s attempt to figure out if the person seated opposite him is a victim or the perpetrator.
