Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday-starrer Liger was one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of the year. However, the movie failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and was lambasted by both critics and the audience alike after it hit theatres on August 25.

While Vijay and the film’s director bore the brunt of the online backlash for the movie, its lead actress Ananya was not spared either, with many criticising her performance in the movie.

Some viewers were so incensed that they urged other filmmakers to refrain from casting her in their films. In fact, the #AnanyaPandey was trending on social media on Friday with fans voicing their displeasure. One internet user remarked, “#liger is definitely a bad movie. But what made its a unbearable torture film for me is the acting of #AnanyaPandey. Please avoid casting bollywood actress in telugu films (sic).”

Another person, who shared a scene from the movie, said, “My toothbrush can give better expressions, then #AnanyaPandey's expressions in #Liger (sic).”

This isn’t the first time that the actress has faced flak. She has often been attacked by trolls with many calling her “a product of nepotism” since she made her debut in Karan Johar's movie Student of the Year 2, with people believing she was picked only because she is Chunkey Panday’s daughter.

Meanwhile, Liger revolves around an MMA fighter who has a speech impediment. Vijay made his Bollywood debut with the movie, which apparently took a hit after Vijay's comments about boycott trends. As per reports, the Telugu and Tamil versions of the movie took in only Rs 25 crore globally, which is less than ideal for a big budget movie's first weekend. Additionally, Ronit Roy, Ramya Krishna, and Mike Tyson make brief appearances in the movie. Dharma Productions and Puri Connects produced the film.
