Ananya Panday says Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda made history with Saiyaara; Recalls calling her 'nervous' brother before release

Saiyaara released in theatres on July 18, 2025. Even 5 months after the release, Mohit Suri's film is making headlines, proving the greatness of its craft. Debutants Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday became overnight stars with the blockbuster success of Saiyaara. But like every debutant, Ahaan was also nervous just 3-4 days before the release and recently, his cousin, Ananya Panday, recalled calling him before Saiyaara's release.

Speaking at the India Film Project (IFP) Festival, Ananya Panday discussed about films and said that it is hard to predict which movies will succeed and which won’t. She gave an example of Saiyaara and reflecting on its blockbuster success, she added, “Even with my brother Ahaan’s film Saiyaara. Before that, no one even knew that this film was coming out. No one knew Ahaan. No one knew Aneet. And I remember speaking to Ahaan 3–4 days before the film was coming out. And he was just like, ‘I don’t know what’s gonna happen. I hope people watch my film.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, people will watch it.’”

“But then it opened to 22 crores. That’s insane! They made history. Time has changed so much, you really don’t know what’s going to work, what won’t. You just have to do your best as an actor. For me, success would be just being the best possible actor that I can be,” added Ananya.

Saiyaara is a romantic drama about a heartbroken lyricist, Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), who finds healing and love with an aspiring singer, Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday).
