The on-screen jodi of Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj, who bowled us over with their spine-chilling performances in Pushpa, is back in another film. Darja, a masala potboiler, directed by Sameer Malik, featuring the duo, hits theatres this weekend. The actress, who made heads turn with an intriguing role in Khiladi, is quite confident about Darja's prospects and thanked her team at a recent promotional event.
"I really need to be grateful to all those who've supported team Darja, right from Allu Aravind garu to Venkatesh to Suresh Babu, director K Raghavendra Rao and Naveen Yerneni. They've been a great source of encouragement to us. I couldn't participate in any promotional event of the film owing to a few reasons and I conveyed the reason to the team. Rap Rock Shakeel is one of the reasons why I took up Darja. I thought he was the producer and not a composer, he was so involved with the making," she said.
"The executive producer Ravi looked more like a banker. The producers, PSS Entertainments, worked very hard on the film. They came to the industry with a lot of passion and made a film. The director Saleem Malik was always a worried man on sets. Only now, he's wearing white clothes and appears at peace. I play the role of Kanakam in Darja. I am very happy to be a part of the film and tried to scare audiences with my role. I hope audiences at least 'try' to be scared (laughs)," Anasuya further added.
Thanking her co-stars and requesting the audiences to watch Darja in theatres, she mentioned, "I wish the entire team, including Sunil, Aksha, Sirisha, Sameer, Shafi and other actors the very best. This is a well-made film. I hope audiences come to the theatres and encourage the film. I guarantee they'll enjoy it. Please don't postpone your visit to theatres to watch it on OTT later. Don't forget to watch our film on the big screens on July 22."
