Andaz Apna Apna re-release: Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's comedy gold set to be back on the big screen; here's when!

It's the era of re-releases nowadays in the movies and due to the demands of the fans, several films are also hitting the big screen once again due to the pressure of the filmmakers. Andaz Apna Apna, another cult classic, is set to return to theatres after three decades. The comedy film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, features Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in the lead roles, alongside Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. The film also has several iconic characters played by Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor.

Andaz Apna Apna returns to theatres

Santoshi expressed his excitement in a statement about the re-release in April, stating that Andaz Apna Apna holds a special place in his heart. The original release date of the film was November 4, 1994. Now, Cinepolis has announced a nationwide re-release of the film.

The filmmaker went on to say that the film's producers—Namrata, Priti, and Amod Sinha—are totally dedicated to making sure that the film is seen by Indian audiences in theatres. They expressed their determination to aggressively re-release the film. With 4K resolution and Dolby 5.1 surround sound, they have remastered the whole film. It's a memorial to their father, who overcame insurmountable obstacles to create this film; they take immense pride in carrying on his legacy.

Several subsequent language films, such as Ullathai Allitha, Veedevadandi Babu, and Galate Aliyandru, borrowed plot aspects from Andaz Apna Apna, but these were not literal remakes. The film was only moderately successful at the box office, but it has now become a beloved classic.

Andaz Apna Apna plot summary

Andaz Apna Apna is about two suitors vying for an heiress' hand who fall in love and end up rescuing her from a villain. Amar and Prem, played by Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, respectively, are dreamers who have a common goal: becoming wealthy through the marriage of Raveena Bajaj, daughter of Ram Gopal Bajaj (Paresh Rawal), an heiress. After meeting on a bus, the boys quickly learn they're working towards the same objective. In their several efforts to win over the woman, the two fall flat.

In addition to its fun plot, the film is famous for its memorable lines of conversation that are still employed in everyday speech. "Main toh kehta hu aap purush hi nahi hai... maha purush hain maha purush!" (I would say that you are not just a man… you are a great man, a truly great man!) is one of the lines. "Teja main hoon, mark idhar hai" and "Crime Master Gogo naam hai mera, aankhen nikal ke gotiyan khelta hun main" are some of the others.
