Prashanth’s long delayed film Andhagan finally saw the light in August when it released in theatres. Now, months after its release, the film also made its OTT debut. Andhagan is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
Andhagan is the official remake of Hindi film Andhadhun which starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. The black comedy film, helmed by Sriram Raghavan, became a success and was subsequently remade in several languages, including Tamil. In the Tamil version, Prashanth played the lead role, with Simran and Priya Anand taking the roles of Tabu and Radhika respectively.
Andhagan revolves around a pianist who pretends to be blind to learn his craft better. However, after he witnesses a murder committed by a housewife, the pianist becomes the center of trouble.
Apart from Prashanth, Simran, and Priya Anand, the film also stars Urvashi, Karthik, Samuthirakani, and Yogi Babu among others. The film opened to a positive reception upon its release. OTTplay review of the film reads, “Andhagan may have its shortcomings and dull moments, given what we know and anticipate after seeing the original, but for most parts, is a very honest, dedicated, and brilliantly executed film, which shines with its exceptional casting.”
Andhagan is produced by Staar Movies, Prashanth's home banner. The technical crew consists of Santhosh Narayanan scoring the music and Sathish Suriya handling the edits. Ravi Yadav is the cinematographer.
Prashanth has been having a fantastic year in 2024, which saw him in Andhagan and alongside Vijay in The GOAT. The latter is available for streaming on Netflix.
