During the pandemic, as and when film shoots were allowed, Vinay Rajkumar was shuttling between the sets of two of his films, Andondittu Kaala and Pepe, both of which required him to sport different looks. The former is now ready and the team has revealed its teaser today on the occasion of leading man Vinay’s birthday.

The teaser provides a close look at Vinay’s character, from his young days of loving story-telling, a budding interest in films and filmmaking, etc. Speaking to OTTplay earlier, Vinay had said, “Andondittu Kaala is a feel-good film about a film director’s journey, which is a tribute to all filmmakers who have gone through their fair share of struggles to make a mark in the industry. It has portions in which I have to portray a 16-year-old version of my character, for which I had to be clean shaven.” Directed by debutant Keerthy, the film is a realistic portrayal of the protagonist’s journey in showbiz, especially all the struggles, and is aimed to cater to audiences of all age groups.

Andondittu Kaala (Once upon a time), is set in the 1990s and has Aditi Prabhudeva in the female lead as a music student. Gattimela fame Nisha Ravikrishnan is also a part of the film in a pivotal role, as are Aruna Balraj and Kaddipudi Chandru. Crazy Star V Ravichandran is also in the film in a special role, playing himself. Produced by Bhuvan Suresh, for his banner Bhuvan Cinemas, Andondittu Kaala was shot in Bengaluru, Ooty, Theerthahalli, and Kerala. The film has cinematography by Abhishek Kasaragod and music by Raghavendra V.

Apart from Andondittu Kaala, Vinay is also gearing up for the release of Pepe, a gritty gangster flick that will have the actor sport a rugged look. Pepe, according to reports, is also a period film, the narrative of which spans five decades.
