Ayushmann Khurrana’s film with Anubhav Sinha, titled Anek, is slated to release in theatres on May 27. The movie talks about the condition in North East India and why are the rebel groups active there. The movie also introduces Andrea Kevichusa as the female lead. While we know about the film’s theatrical release, here’s what you need to know about its OTT release…
Where will Anek release?
Anek will start streaming on Netflix. The OTT platform is Anek’s streaming partner.
When will Anek be available for streaming?
The makers have not yet finalized on an OTT release date for the movie. However, the usual case is that a movie comes to OTT after 45 days of its theatrical release. If Anek happens to work at the Box Office, the OTT release might even get delayed.
What is Anek about?
An undercover officer Aman (Ayushmann Khurrana) is trying to expose Johnson’s whereabouts. Johnson is tagged as the most-dreaded terrorist in the area but what even Aman comes to know is more shocking that one would expect. He comes across Aida (Andrea Kevichusa) while on his mission, who plays an important role in him getting closer to his goal – to catch Johnson.
Ayushmann-Anubhav’s second collaboration after Article 15.
This is the second time that Ayushmann has collaborated with Anubhav. They had previously worked on Article 15, which became a hit for the duo. The movie also helped Ayushmann break his mould of doing quirky comedies.
What sets Anek apart?
No filmmaker has told the story of rebel groups in the North East, their forming or what really goes on in the political aspect that the groups form in the first place, at least in the recent past. Soon after Vivek Agnihotri told the tale of Kashmiri Pandita having to flee their own homes, here comes a story of some people who move away from their homes to fight for being accepted as a part of their nation, India. All they want is to live in peace and be called Indians rather than ‘Nepali’ or ‘Chilli Chinese’ and being looked down upon for no fault of theirs.
