Anika: Actress Manisha Tambade to play title role in MX Player’s new crime thriller series

Saath Nibhaana Saathiya fame actress Manisha Tambade will next be seen in actor Rahul Datta’s directorial venture - a crime thriller web series, titled Anika. Set to release on MX Player, the show also stars Raj Sharma, Arsh Sehrawat, Komal Sapkal, Varun Kapoor, Chanda Katariya and Rahul. Manisha is playing the title character in the series.   

Speaking about her role in the show, Manisha said, “I am thrilled to play an incredibly strong and multi-dimensional character in the show. The character of Anika has different layers to it, and playing the role allowed me to explore those complexities. When Rahul was discussing the story with me, I knew that this is a role that I would want to play on screen. It’s been an incredible experience working on this project, and I’m excited for everyone to see the final product.”

Adding to that, the actress said, “Anika’s story is one of resilience and empowerment, as she fights for her self-respect after being betrayed by her husband. It’s a powerful journey that showcases the strength of human spirit and the importance of perseverance. I feel honoured to bring this complex and inspiring character to life on screen, and to be a part of such an incredible project. I’m excited to see how audiences react to my character’s story in the series.”

According to Rahul, this crime drama series tackles an important and sensitive topic. “Each character in the story is amazing, and it’s been incredible to see how everyone has brought their unique talents and perspectives to the project. The chemistry between the characters is something special, and it’s a testament to Kashish Sharma’s exceptional writing. It’s important to approach sensitive issues with care and consideration, and I’m grateful that the team behind this project has done such an excellent job. Manisha has previously featured in the film Fatal: Chapter 1 and Telugu web series Rudhrama Devi, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Apart from this series, Manisha will also feature in a short film, I Want to Be a Maid, to be streamed on MX Player. Directed by Kashish Sharma, the film also features Arsh Sehrawat and Komal Sapkal in key roles.
