On Saturday, at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2021, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor got together to discuss the reopening of theatres, the growth of the digital realm, and how online platforms will continue to thrive. The uncle and niece duo also shared their thoughts on the OTT boom and called the medium the future. At the summit, Anil said that both, he believes, will coexist, but OTT is the future.

Janhvi believes that, if anything, having access to such wonderful pieces of work through digital platforms has shifted audiences' tastes and, if anything, inspired them as creative people, not just performers but also writers, directors, and producers, to raise their game. The Dhadak actor also said that they are suddenly exposed to films and television series from all around the world, and the bar has been raised.

Agreeing with her uncle Anil, Janhvi went on to say that we will all enter a phase where OTT and theatrical releases will coexist because no one can replicate the experience of watching a film in a cinema hall, having a community experience, laughing with people, crying with people, seeing these stunning visuals, but people are intrinsically aware of the fact that going into the theatres may endanger your health.

She also believes that as an industry, they will have to be smart about planning films that are specific to theatres and films that are specific to digital platforms.

While Anil detailed that people will be surprised to learn that OTT prefers films that are fun, action-packed, and don't require too much thought. Overall, film and OTT desire a wide range of content, but it must be convincing, interesting, and, in certain cases, authentic and raw, which is the way of the future.

The summit was held in New Delhi and they were part of the panel discussion on the last day.
