Anil Kapoor is currently gearing up for the release of JugJugg Jeeyo, which is hitting the big screens on June 24, 2022. During a recent interaction, the actor revealed his initial attraction to the film. Kapoor shared that the film's use of humour conveys a poignant message about marriage, falling out of love, and divorce without diminishing the seriousness of the issues.
The actor told Mid Day that it's a family comedy, not a family drama. He has done family dramas before, so he wouldn't say yes to one again. Kapoor further said that the film's plot has a novelty in which Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kiara Advani are accompanying him.
The senior actor has virtually always succeeded in comedies, despite them being one of the most challenging genres to master. Examples include the famous Mr. India (1987) and the endearing Dil Dhadakne Do (2015). On being asked if he has simply been fortunate with them, to which he said not at all, and he claimed that he closely examines laugh riots that come his way.
While working on comedies, Kapoor is careful about who he collaborates with, and the most important person is the director. The actor has collaborated in this genre with some of the best filmmakers, including Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. With a new director or writer, he won't work on a comedy. The Thar actor must see his work, hear his perspective on the genre, and he must establish himself.
The actor was pleased to bring the story to life with Neetu since he felt confident in Mehta's perspective on those points. Neetu and Anil's wife, Sunita Kapoor, were pals, and their groups of friends were similar. The actor was therefore familiar with her and the AK vs AK actor shared that when two actors collaborate for the first time, there is a certain amount of enthusiasm.
Anil concluded by talking about the plot of JugJugg Jeeyo. He shared that while remaining faithful to one's spouse is usually preferable, extramarital romances do occasionally occur. The actor wouldn't hold someone accountable for that, and each couple has its own reasons for breaking up. They should separate if they can't get along and decide it's best that way. He went on to say that although it can be challenging, people will occasionally band together for the benefit of their children.
