Prime Video announced earlier this year that Anil Kapoor is preparing for an action movie. The actor is getting ready to play a retired Indian Army commander who is having a challenging time adjusting to civilian life in the upcoming film Subedaar. As per the latest reports, Kapoor will kick off the shoot for the film in September this year.
As per reports in Mid Day, on September 15, Prime Video will launch the film in Mumbai by director Suresh Triveni, who was previously responsible for the critically acclaimed films Jalsa (2022) and Tumhari Sulu (2017). According to a source, Anil's character, Subedaar Arjun Singh, is trying to reconcile with his adult daughter while his family is facing threats. Once again, the central theme of the story revolves around his transformation from an ordinary man into a formidable combatant. Fighter, The Night Manager [2023], and Animal [2023] were action films starring the actor, yet he rarely fought in them. It will be thrilling to witness him do some extreme stunts here.
At the moment, Kapoor splits his time between filming and hosting Bigg Boss OTT season 3. As he prepares to go toe-to-toe with his fictional enemies, the actor's excitement is contagious. He announced that, hopefully, they will finish shooting this year. Subedaar is heavily reliant on feelings. Action accompanies every emotional moment in the film. An action drama like this requires preparation, but with a talented director like Suresh and a capable crew, it gets simpler. Having fun and not taking yourself too seriously is the most important thing for Kapoor.
He has been in the industry for over 40 years and has done a wide range of roles. When the tabloid asked if his selection criteria for roles evolved in tandem with the changes to Hindi film grammar, Kapoor said that he considers the project's script, director, and producer before committing to it. He values content quality and writer credibility. Their conviction is the one he follows, and it will be a pleasure to work with Suresh.
Subedaar is likely to premiere on Prime Video in 2025.
