New update on Vijay Varma-Anil Kapoor's series

Vijay Varma (Bamfaad) and Anil Kapoor's Netflix series is ready to roll soon, a source tells Filmibeat. The project would be on floors next week, the little birdie confirms, adding, "The team has been quietly prepping, and everyone is excited to finally roll cameras." The announcement comes days after Vijay Varma confirms his Prime Video show Matka King’s wrap in a unique style. The actor made headlines for Lust Stories 2 last year (featuring his real-life love interest Tamannaah Bhatia as the female lead).

Although more details about the yet-untitled project are under the wraps, it is touted to be a business drama where Anil and Vijay's character would play rivals (The Night Manager vibes?). The makers are yet to announce the series officially, for it was not a part of Netflix’s Tudum India, nor did it get announced with the season renewal announcements that happened throughout the day (May 28, 2025).

Hansal Mehta, the hitmaker?

Hansal Mehta is known to create hits whether on OTT or in films. His series Scam 1992, starring Pratik Gandhi, is the biggest example of them all, but Hansal Mehta is also the brains behind stories like Aligarh and Shahid (both featuring Rajkummar Rao). The filmmaker's last series Scoop, based on the real-life incident of after-events of top crime journalist J. Dey’s murder, also worked well on Netflix, and thus, the green light for this series with Vijay Varma and Anil Kapoor. Well, we hope the makers make an official announcement for the new series soon!
