Kiccha Sudeep’s Vikrant Rona has quite a few fans and the latest to join this bandwagon is none other than former spin bowler, Anil Kumble. Jumbo, as the cricketer is popularly known, watched the film recently after it dropped on OTT and took to social media to show his appreciation of the movie, Sudeep's performance and singer Vijay Prakash's rendition of the Lullaby song. “Watched #VikrantRоna. Stellar performance by my dear friend @KicchaSudeep. Element of suspense remained till the end. Wonderful lullaby song by @rvijayprakash 👍🏽Congratulations to the entire team #anupbhandari 🎉 🎉👏👏,” he wrote.

Sudeep responded, tweeting, “Thank u @anilkumble1074v sir for making time and watchn #VikrantRоna. 🤗🤗❤️”, while director Anup Bhandari and singer Vijay Prakash also replied with thank you notes to Kumble.

Vikrant Rona, which released in theatres on July 28, dropped on Zee5 Kannada on September 2 on the occasion of leading man Sudeep’s birthday. The film, according to the streaming platform, was received phenomenally well, notching up a massive 500 million streaming minutes in a relatively short span. As of now, Vikrant Rona, which released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, is available to stream in the Kannada version only with English subtitles.

The rest of the versions have been sold to the Star Network, so, they will be on Disney+Hotstar eventually. However, the platform has only announced a date for the Telugu version of the film, which will begin streaming on September 16.

Vikrant Rona was Anup’s first directorial with Sudeep. A mystery thriller surrounding the disappearances of children in a village called Kamarottu and the investigation thereof, the film had Sudeep playing the investigating officer Vikrant Rona. Shot by William David in 2D, it was later converted to 3D for better effect. Also starring Nirup Bhandari and Neetha Ashok in pivotal roles, the film produced by Manjunath and Shalini Gowda for Shalini Artss and co-produced by Alankar Pandian of Invenio Origin, is currently streaming on Zee5 Kannada.
