It was officially announced that Parineeti Chopra was the leading lady of Animal. However, the actress was soon replaced by Rashmika Mandanna.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal is one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, the film performed tremendously well at the box office. Days after Animal's theatrical release, Sandeep has now revealed why Parineeti Chopra was replaced as Geetanjali in the film. For those who are unaware, the official announcement of the movie had Parineeti Chopra's name. But she was later replaced by Rashmika.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga didn't see Parineeti Chopra as Geetanjali
In an interview with Komal Nahta, Sandeep Reddy Vanga revealed he apologised to Parineeti Chopra. "Actually, galti mera hi hai (it is my mistake). I signed her one and a half years before the shoot and for some reason, I didn’t see Geetanjali in her. Kuch kuch characters kuch kuch logo ko set nahi hota hai (some characters don't suit some people)," he said.
The filmmaker further mentioned he doesn't believe in taking auditions, rather he goes with his instinct. Before Parineeti was replaced in Animal, Sandeep did consider casting the actress as Preeti in Kabir Singh. "I always wanted to cast her as Preeti also in Kabir Singh but hua nahi uss time. That’s long due. I always wanted to work with her," added Vanga.
Since things didn't work out with Parineeti on Kabir Singh, Sandeep recalled telling the actress 'Sorry, nothing is bigger than the film' and that he was going ahead with another artist. He also stated that Parineeti did feel bad but later understood why he said that.
