Anirban Bhattacharya’s Ballabhpurer Roopkotha has been receiving positive reviews from viewers and critics alike. The film which features Satyam Bhattacharya, Surangana Bandyopadhyay, and others, was released on October 25. This is Anirban’s second directorial work after the Hoichoi web series Mandaar and his debut in feature films. Based on Badal Sircar’s play, the film presents a horror comedy, laced with rom-com. Soon after its release, the film received appreciation from different quarters for its acting, storytelling, music, and excellence in other departments.

Evidently, Anirban is a happy man. He said that he is happy with the reception so far. However, he refuses to get carried away. “The reception so far has been positive. These days, any film is widely reviewed – in newspapers, on digital portals, and even on YouTube. There is a formula or a structure for a review. It is important that a film or a theatre production is reviewed. However, while making the film, all I ever wanted is to make people happy. I want the viewers to get a certain temporal peace while watching the film,” he said. Anirban admitted that no film is flawless and Ballabhpurer Roopkotha also has its share of flaws. “But if this film can make people happy and touch people’s hearts, even for those two hours, I will think I am successful,” he said.

Anirban wants to take a break from his directorial work and intends to focus on his acting career. He said that he calculated the time he takes to make a film and that is no less than a year. “When will I focus on acting if I take 365 days to make a film?” he asked.
