Filmmaker Raj Mehta's 2019 film, Good Newwz, starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani in lead roles. Actress Anjana Sukhani, too, was an integral part of the comedy-drama. She played the role of Akshay's sister in the movie. Over five years after the film's release, Anjana recently said she was left out of the Good Newwz promotions. The actress claimed that she was 'completely ignored' during the entire promotional spree.
Anjana Sukhani being 'ignored' during Good Newwz's promotions
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Anjana Sukhani said she understands that the lead actors of Good Newwz (Akshay, Kareena, Kiara and Diljit), are the 'biggest superstars'. However, the actress also believes that she was an integral part of the film. Wondering why? "Because she (Sukhani's character) is the one who literally pushes her brother to say, ‘Please do it this way'," she said.
The actress revealed that she was probably a 'little out of work' for a year or two before Good Newwz happened. She didn't expect the team to let her accompany them everywhere.
"I wasn’t expecting them to rally me with them everywhere because it’s the story about two couples—fair enough—but to completely ignore one out of promotions? I don’t understand the marketing strategy of people," added Anjana.
She further recalled reaching out to Akshay (also a co-producer of the film) and voicing her concern. The actress mentioned that she was 'hurt' for not being included at all during promotions. Later, Akshay considered her concern and arranged a press meet where the actress did a few media interactions.
