The gorgeous and very talented Ankita Lokhande is one of the most popular and adored actresses of Indian television today. After a successful career in TV, the beauty ventured into Bollywood with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She blew fans away with each and every character that she ever portrayed. However, the love that she received for playing Archana in her debut show Pavitra Rishta is unparalleled even after all these years. The actress is now all set to reprise her beloved character in the reboot web series, titled Pavitra Rishta - Its Never too Late.
In recent a chat with Spotboye, Ankita remembered her audition for the first season of Pavitra Rishta. She shared, “I was called for the audition and they told me to wear a saree and come. And I told them 'no way I am wearing a saree' - because at the back of my mind, I always felt that I cannot be a Balaji heroine ever in my life. I always felt I am not a heroine material. I could be a vamp. While briefing about the show, they said a show named Pavitra Rishta is on the anvil and there is a Marathi girl character. My audition is also there on YouTube. That was my first audition.”
Ankita recalled that she sported a twisted choti and a bindi on her forehead when she went for the audition, as that was the way she was in real life. She went on to add, “I was finalised for that show in five days. Usually at Balaji, it doesn't happen that way as they take a very long time to finalise their lead. I had heard that Ekta ma'am gets involved in casting and sees everything. I was the first one to get finalised in five days.” Ankita further shared that she was very excited and nervous at the same time, because she kept thinking how can she be a ‘Balaji heroine’.
Clearly, it was meant to be!
