Annapoorani on OTT - Watch these 5 films starring Jai on streaming platforms

Nayanthara starrer Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food has finally locked dates for its digital premiere. The culinary drama starring Nayanthara and Jai is directed by Nilesh Krishnaa and made its theatrical release on December 1. The film also marked the reunion of Nayanthara and Jai after their 2013 superhit film Raja Rani. Jai, who has acted in several feel-good films, plays the role of Farhan in Annapoorani. The movie is based on Nayanthara's charcter Annapoorani, who hails from an orthodox upper-caste family. She aspires to become a chef in the film.

Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food is set to have a digital debut on December 29 in Netflix.

2. Subramaniapuram

This M. Sasikumar directorial stars Swati Reddy, M. Sasikumar and Jai in lead roles. Set in the 80s, the movie revolves around a group of friends who often land in trouble but find support in an aspiring politician. However, when the politician traps them for a murder committed at his behest, they are left to fend for themselves. The movie was a huge success and later served as an inspiration for Anurag Kashyap 's Gangs of Wasseypur series. 

3. Chennai 600028

This sports comedy drama directed by Venkat Prabhu revolves around two local cricket league teams who compete against each other in local matches and are sworn enemies. The film is one of the best films in Jai’s filmography and was a blockbuster hit. The film stars an ensemble of cast including Jai, Shiva, Premji, Aravind Akash, Nithin Sathya, Ajay Raj, Vijay Vasanth, Prasanna, Inigo Prabakaran, Karthik and Arun. 

4. Chennai 600028 II

Chennai 600028 II was the sequel of its first instalment and is also directed by Venkat Prabhu. The plot again revolves around the same group of friends who now reunite for the wedding of one of their own. However, when a mishap threatens to ruin the event, only a series of cricket matches can save the day. The film stars Jai, Vaibhav, Shiva, Premji, Aravind Akash, Inigo Prabakaran and Nithin Sathya in prominent roles. This sequel was also a huge success and was one of the well-made sequels.

5. Raja Rani

Raja Rani marked the directorial debut of Atlee. This super hit romantic drama revolves around John (Arya) and Regina (Nayanthara), who are forced into wedlock against their wishes. However, prior to their marriage, Regina was in love with Surya (Jai), while John romanced Keerthana (Nazriya). What leads to the Arya-Nayanthara wedding and how they finally come together forms the crux of the story.
