Director Nandini Reddy, despite making only a handful of Telugu films, has had a fan base for her entertainers ever since her debut Ala Modalaindi. The filmmaker went onto to make Jabardasth, Oh Baby and Kalyana Vaibhogame later and also worked on several web shows including Gangstars, Sam Jam and Mana Mugguri Love Story. Her next release is a family drama Anni Manchi Sakunamule.

Anni Manchi Sakunamule is headlined by Santosh Soban and Malvika Nair; the latter had already associated with Nandini Reddy for Kalyana Vaibhogame before. The feel-good family drama is bankrolled by Mahanati, Yevade Subrahmanyam makers Swapna Cinema in association with Mitra Vinda Movies. The film, which has been in the making for over a year and a half, is gearing up for a theatrical release.

The drama is set to hit screens worldwide this summer on May 18. The makers confirmed the news through the teaser, unveiled by Dulquer Salmaan on Saturday. The story, set in Ooty, revolves around two families, a young lead pair that meets at a wedding, falls in love and moves past several obstacles to become one. The ‘Rajshri’ entertainer template is obvious in the glimpse, though Nandini Reddy has given it a quirky modern-day spin.

Another major attraction of the film is its supporting cast from multiple industries - the list includes Rajendra Prasad, Rao Ramesh, Naresh, Gauthami, Sowcar Janaki, Vasuki, Vennela Kishore, Ramya Subramanian, Anju Alva Naik, Oorvasi, Ashwin Kumar. Mickey J Meyer, who also composed the songs for Nandini Reddy’s Oh Baby, is the music director. There are two cinematographers - Sunny Kurapati and Richard Prasad. Junaid is the editor.

With dialogues by Lakshmi Bhupala and screenplay by Dawood, the crew also comprises production designer Shivam Rao, with costumes designed by Mohana Desiraju. Anni Manchi Sakunamule’s summer release timing is apt, given the genre. The clean treatment should ensure that audiences across various age groups resonate with it.
