The Malayalam film Anomie, starring actress Bhavana, has been postponed from its January 30 release date. The film, touted to be a thriller with sci-fi elements, would now hit theatres on February 6, 2026. The news about the movie’s postponement comes even as Bhavana has been busy giving promotional interviews.
When will Anomie release in theatres
Bhavana, who has not been very active in Malayalam cinema recently, was all set to make a return to the industry with her latest film Anomie. Helmed by Riyas Marath, the movie was scheduled to release in theatres on January 30, along with Drishyam 3 director Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming movie Valathu Vasathe Kallan. However, Bhavana herself has confirmed that her new movie will release in theatres on February 6.
The other Malayalam film scheduled to be released in theatres on the same date is actor Rajesh Madhavan’s Pennum Porattum, which also marks his directorial debut. Pennum Porattum already made its premiere at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) winning much appreciation. Now, Valathu Vasathe Kallan, starring Biju Menon and Joju George, will release on next Friday. There are also reports that another film Prakambanam will be released on January 30.

The 2026 Malayalam movie Anomie revolves around Bhavana’s character Zara, who is a forensic analyst. In a recent interview, Bhavana had said that the upcoming film is a thriller. The film follows the events after a tragedy strikes her younger brother and Zara sets out to find the truth. Senior actor Rahman plays the other key role in the film, which is also penned by director Riyas Marath. The teaser of Anomie was released recently, which hinted that Rahman would be seen as an investigating officer, out to catch a killer.
The movie has music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar, who is known for Ranbir Kapoor’s Hindi film Animal, among others.
