September marks the start of Onam festivities, and after an incredible year for Malayalam cinema, full of surprising hits, expectations are high for the festival season. The makers of Antony Varghese's upcoming film have officially announced that the film's 96-day shoot is now complete, paving the way for post-production. The film will be released in theatres during the Onam season, as previously announced.
With the backing of Weekend Blockbusters and RDX producer, Sophia Paul, this project is progressing well. More information, including the title announcement, should be available in the next few days. The action drama is directed by debutante Ajith Mampally.
High hopes for this Antony Varghese Pepe-starrer
After RDX's huge success, this is Weekend Blockbusters' seventh production. By releasing the movie in theatres on Onam, the film's makers seem to be hoping to repeat the success of production's RDX, which turned out to be an enormous hit during the same holiday season last year despite being released alongside films starring big stars
Antony Varghese Pepe’s first big budget film
The actor plays the lone lead in this film, his first big-budget project. It is expected that the revenge action drama with a coastal setting, still unnamed, will mark a significant turning point in Pepe's career.
On the Kureepuzha set in Kollam, a 100-foot boat was built specifically for the movie. A 20-foot shark was just added to the collection of film props. The majority of the nearly 70 days of filming were spent at sea, with additional shoots taking place in Kollam, Varkala, and Rameswaram.
According to sources, the film will feature a realistic portrayal of the people living in the coastal community, along with some thrilling action sequences and suspenseful moments. The lead female role will be played by a debutante. In this film, Gautami Nair plays yet another important role. Raj B Shetty, a Kannada actor, and Shabeer Kallarakkal are also prominently featured in this movie.
