Anugraheethan Antony’s digital rights bagged by Amazon Prime Video?

Despite Sunny Wayne’s Anugraheethan Antony, which released in theatres on April 1, receiving largely positive reviews, the movie had a limited run in cinema halls due to the COVID-19 restrictions. However, fans now have a reason to rejoice, with the movie heading for a digital release soon.

According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights of the Malayalam movie and is planning for its OTT release in the last week of May.

The fantasy drama also had ‘96 movie fame Gouri G Kishan playing the female lead and marked the directorial debut of Prince Joy. The movie also has Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Baiju, Indrans and Jaffer Idukki in lead roles.

The movie revolves around Antony (Sunny), who is an indolent youth whom his father believes to be a failure. Antony’s father (Siddique) brings two pet dogs to replace Antony and to insult him. This series of events as well as him meeting the love of his life Sanjana (Gouri) change Antony’s life in a mysterious way.

The movie was supposed to hit theatres last year but didn’t because of the pandemic lockdown. However, the film’s songs, composed by Arun Muraleedharan, were trending on the music charts for the entire year.

Another coincidence was that Sunny also played a character named Antony in his second release this year - Chathurmukham, which had Manju Warrier in the lead and was a techno-horror film.
