Veteran actors Rajendra Prasad and Narasimha Raju are joining hands for the first time for a moving, emotional drama, Anukoni Prayanam. The film marks the directorial debut of Venkatesh Pediredla, who has also written the screenplay. DY Jagan, a medico by profession, has bankrolled the film under Apple Creations and also wrote the story. The film is set to hit theatres on October 28.
The film’s trailer was launched on Sunday. In the trailer, Rajendra Prasad and Narasimha Raju play inseparable friends who are labourers working in Bhubaneshwar. While the former is an orphan, the latter is worried about passing away on a dignified note, more so after noticing how labourers are shabbily treated even at the time of their death.
A couple of characters in the film compare life to a game of snakes and ladders. Meanwhile, the story takes a dramatic turn with the death of Narasimha Raju’s character in the middle of a lockdown. How far will Rajendra Prasad go to ensure a dignified end to his friend’s life? Several characters come in the way to test his resilience in the middle of an ‘unexpected journey’.
Prema, Tulasi, Ravibabu, Subhaleka Sudhakar, Narayanarao, Ananth, Prabhas Srinu, Rangasthalam Mahesh, Jogi Brothers, Dhanraj, Kancharapalem Kishore, Gemini Suresh and Thagubothu Ramesh form the supporting cast of the film. Two songs - Ye Kadhanu Ye Kanchi Ki and the soul of Anukoni Prayanam - opened to encouraging responses from music buffs.
Mallikarjun Naragani has cranked the camera for the film edited by Ram Tumu. Paruchuri Brothers have written the dialogues while S Siva Dinavahi is the music director. Manikumar Patrudu is the executive producer and Suresh Bhimagani is the art director. Aditya Music has bagged the audio rights of the same. Anukoni Prayanam is a film inspired by the plight of migrant labourers during COVID-19.
