Through the course of his decades long career, Anupam Kher has worked with some of the most popular filmmakers in contemporary Bollywood today. But the actor recently revealed that some of the filmmakers he had worked with a lot in the past do not offer him roles in their films these days.
In conversation with Times Now Navbharat , Kher claimed that the reason he has not been a part of recent films by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Aditya Chopra, was simply because they did not offer the actor roles any more. He said that there had been a time when he used to be the ‘darling’ of the filmmakers, and had been a part of all of their films. “I am not a part of mainstream cinema in India today”, Kher said.
The actor went on to say that he did not blame the filmmakers for not casting him anymore, as it had paved the way for Kher to take up projects like the Tamil film Connect and the Tollywood film Tiger Nageswara Rao. The actor also has a starring role in Sooraj Barjatya’s upcoming directorial Uunchai.
Kher said that while he did feel bad about the situation, he was not one to sit and lament over it. He said that he chose not to think about how the ones who had been so close to him, chose to not take him for any of their films any more. The actor said that he does not hold it against the filmmakers and chose to see the bright side of it. “I am just saying that sometimes when one door shuts, so many other windows & doors open. I am rediscovering myself as an actor”, he said.
Kher’s upcoming releases also include Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, Gajendra Ahire’s The Signature and VK Prakash’s Kaagaz 2.
