The newly inaugurated Kolkata metro rail runs through a tunnel under the River Ganga. The route is from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan. Singers Anupam Roy and Rupankar Bagchi rode the metro on the first day. The metro ran through the tunnel under the river and Anupam sang the song, Fire Geche Koto, Boba Tunneler Gola Chire Alo. 

Anupam Roy shared glimpses of his ride on social media. It shows the metro going through the river with blue lights. He matched the moment with the song that he sang in the film Chotushkone. He put the caption, “Through under the Ganga.” 

There were many comments in the post. One person wrote, “Dada, I feel calm listening to your song.” Another one commented, “It's wonderful. Calcutta made nothing short of history.” This underwater service is the first in India. 

Rupankar Bagchi also took the ride. He sang the song, Tomar Tane Sarabelar Gane. The official X handle of Metro Railway Kolkata posted Rupankar Bagchi's ride. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the tunnel on March 6. People then questioned when it would be opened for them. It was at last opened on March 15. The first metro will be at 7 am and the last one will be at 9.45 am. There will be trains at a 15-minute interval till 9 pm. 

Metro service also started from New Garia to Ruby and in the extended part to Majerhat of the Joka-Taratala route. In the New Garia-Ruby route, the service will start at 9 AM and continue till 4.40 PM. In the joka-Taratala-Majerhat route, the service will start at 8.30 AM and continue till 3.35 PM. No service will be there on the weekends
