Anupama: Namaste America, a prequel to the fan-favourite TV show has been making news for multiple reasons. Actor Sudhanshu Pandey, who plays Vanraj in the show, has now talked about OTT platforms and about his willingness to do bold scenes.

Talking to Hindustan Times, the actor said, “OTT is huge, no doubt. Having said that, even though this new medium is giving visibility to many actors, who are now getting their due, it is hard to say whether OTT actors are becoming stars or not.”

The actor, who has been a famous name in television, also compared the medium to TV and said that it has happened in the past. He said that TV grew so much in the past that television actors are as big as film stars today. He said that the same could happen with OTT and growing OTT actors could become stars tomorrow.

Sudhanshu also said that OTTs provide a certain liberty to makers and that writers can present stories about topics that are considered taboo in society. The actor also added that he is open to doing bold scenes in a web project but only if the story demands it.

Sudhanshu Pandey played Vanraj ‘Gutlu’ Shah in Anupama, as the former husband of the titular lead and the antagonist. The actor returned to the prequel web show Anupama: Namaste America, reprising his role as Anupama’s (now ex) husband.

Directed by Romesh Kalra, the first season of the prequel show has 11 episodes. It features Rupali Ganguly reprising her role as Anupama. Sarita Joshi, Vidhvaan Sharma and Dheer Bhanushali also play pivotal roles in the series. The show is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
