The 2025 Malayalam film Janaki V v/s State of Kerala, starring Anupama Parameswaran and Suresh Gopi, was a much-talked-about movie before its release, thanks to a raging row triggered by CBFC’s objection to the usage of Janaki. However, post its release, the film hardly made a dent at the box office. In a recent interview with Ginger Media, Anupama said that she had committed to telling Janaki's tale.
“There are several things in the film that were not there when I read the script. It has things that I don't relate to, politically. But the film is also about that, so one cannot find fault with it," she said.
"I committed to Janaki’s story. It was about Janaki’s fight when I committed to the film about 3-4 years ago,” she further told the channel.
