An intriguing thriller is coming your way just before the end of 2022. Butterfly, an intense rollercoaster ride, headlined by Anupama Parameswaran and Nihal Kodhaty, is all set to arrive directly on Disney+ Hotstar. The film, originally made in Telugu, will also premiere in three other languages - Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi on December 29. The thriller marks the directorial debut of Satish Babu Ghanta, who’d been a key figure in producer Dil Raju’s direction department for several years.

The cast and crew of the film came together for a press meet held in the city earlier today. “ I had first met Satish Babu garu during the shoot of Shatamanam Bhavati many years ago and we’d stayed in touch ever since. It takes a lot of courage to make a film centred on a woman for a debut and I thank him and the producers for fully believing in me. We made the film exactly a year ago in just about a month and it was only possible because of the team’s commitment,” Anupama shared.

“ I had a great time working with Nihal. Though we worked on the film only briefly, we became good friends over time. As an actor, he is genuinely passionate about cinema and goes much beyond his character for a film. He has helped the production team with several aspects during the shoot. I hope he shows the same enthusiasm in his future works too. I enjoyed sharing screen space with Bhumika garu, Rao Ramesh garu and Praveen,” she added.

“ The film’s cinematographer Sameer Reddy is someone whom I have great respect for and it works the other way round too. I believe this fondness for one another has reflected in the visuals of Butterfly. The film is releasing on OTT owing to a few delays related to COVID-19 and post-production but I’m happy that a big platform like Disney+ Hotstar expressed interest in acquiring Butterfly. I can’t wait to watch Butterfly with my family at the comfort of my home,” the 18 Pages actress said.

Nihal Kodhaty opined that the production house GenNXT is akin to family for him and said the producers were like mentor figures for his career. While he was initially worried of star tantrums with Anupama’s presence in the film, Nihal stated he was genuinely surprised by the actress’ humility. “ I hope our friendship has translated onto the screen as well. I am confident you all will like Butterfly. I am working on another film with the banner, A Beautiful Girl too.”

Director Satish Babu felt Butterfly wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Anupama Parameswaran and thanked his friends, family who’ve helped him come this far in the industry. Arviz, the composer cheekily spoke of how the filmmaker extracted tunes from him, comparing the music sittings to settlements with mafia. Dakshin Srinivas, the dialogue writer, thanked the team for the opportunity. One of the producers, Tiruvalluri Prasad, also graced the event.
